RP

The RP profile may operate as a high-performance mass memory node, hosting volatile SDRAM memories that can store mission data for short periods of time. This application may be used, for example, to queue mission data or temporary data storage for processing.

Volatile Memory Storage Instantiation

In this application, the RP firmware is configured with services that facilitate gigabit-speed communication with volatile memories. The memories are populated on a mezzanine board (defined by the Expansion Profile) that is connected to the RP node through its mezzanine connector. Application requests for memory transactions are received by the FPGA through either the megabit control bus or via the gigabit interface, translated into memory transactions, and the appropriate data or acknowledgement is transmitted back to the requestor.
