All JAS nodes communicate through a standard set of interfaces that adhere to standard protocols. Refer to the Electrical Specification for physical layer technical information and Communication Specification for details on standard data protocols.

The protocols are differentiated by speed due to the complexity of implementation that arises when exceeding speeds of several hundred megabits per second. The lower megabit-class interfaces typically use well-supported standards available on a wide variety of parts, such as LVDS signaling.
