Materials
The JAS mechanical structure shall be constructed of materials capable of performing at the specified orbit for a minimum of ten years after being stored in an inert gas environment and after exposure to clean air during testing, launch, and ascension.
The use of the following materials is prohibited: Zinc, Cadmium, electroplated tin, and uncoated silver. No 303 stainless or other sulphur or selenium containing material shall be used. No silicon or sulphur containing machining fluids are to be used in the manufacture of parts. Do not use black oxide fasteners on flight hardware for test or fabrication since is creates particulate matter.
