JAS will accept at least one primary input power source supplied to the system. The primary input power will connect directly to the Power Supply or PS node in a JAS arrangement. The PS node converts the primary input voltage to a lower voltage which is then sent to all other nodes in the system on a secondary power bus. The other nodes in the JAS system will convert this secondary power supply to any required voltage levels using one or more point-of-load converters (POLs). This is a much more efficient method of supplying power to the entire system rather than either bussing very low voltages at high currents or having to step down the primary supply in every node. The PS node may also create one or more unique voltages which are used for specific purposes. For example, an RP node may need some higher voltages for a sensor application. In this case that unique voltage will be routed directly from the PS node to the RP node. A typical block diagram is shown below.
