Communication Specification
JAS Packets
Applications require a messaging format to allow them to communicate with each other. Legacy programs may already have a messaging format that they prefer to use. There is nothing that precludes any of the JAS communication protocols or data links from supporting these formats. The JAS Packet was developed for programs that don’t have a preexisting messaging format. The JAS Packet is a universal messaging format that applications can use to communicate within a payload or between a payload and ground system. The JAS Packet builds on the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) Space Packet Standard and the ECSS Packet Utilization Standard (PUS).
